Beginners Jewellery Level 2 Skills Course
Would you like to learn how to make jewellery? Already completed a beginners level 1 course and would like to learn more? Yes! Let’s go then…
Come along on Wednesday evenings beginning 17th September 2025 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm were you will learn a range of skills in making jewellery.
What will you learn?
Week 1 We kick off the next level beginners with making a bangle in 3mm round wire.
Weeks 2 & 3 For these two weeks you will make a linked bracelet with different gauges of wire and finishing your bracelet off by making your own clasp.
Weeks 4 & 5 Shaping and moving. You will create a pendant and necklace set by learning to shape flat metal into 3D shapes. We will also learn how to make rivets and create moving parts to our jewellery.
Weeks 6 & 7 The beginnings of stone setting. You will learn how to create a bezel setting and how to set a cabochon stone. This will be a lovely pendant to wear. There will be a selection of stones to choose from, such as onyx, rose quartz, or blood stone.
Weeks 8 & 9 Introduction to the ancient technique of lost wax carving. We will begin with making to measure a precise piece and then an organic shaped piece to learn the basic techniques.
Week 10 This wee is all about casting with the precise piece that you carved in week 8. You will learn how to cast with silver into Delft clay, how to de-sprue and clean up castings.
Week 11 & 12 Over to you. With all the amazing new skills that you have learnt over the past ten weeks you will make your own design(s) with Shannon there to guide you. You will make something unique to treasure!
Who is this for?
This course is for those who have completed a similar level 1 beginners course having already learnt the techniques that Shannon teaches in hers, please take a look here. If you are unsure please contact Shannon for advice.
All participants must be over 16.
The course capacity is for up to six people so that you have the best tuition experience.
What is provided?
Shannon will provide a printed course guide for you to keep.
For the materials that you will be making your pieces in you can choose from three options.
Option 1 Make all pieces in copper with the exception of the casting piece, that will be made with silver. A silver chain and the gemstone are also included in this pricing option.
Option 2 Make all pieces in silver, this includes your gemstone, silver grain for casting and a silver chain for your pendants.
Option 3 Purchase option 1 and as we go through the course you can purchase silver from Shannon for the pieces you would prefer to be in silver rather than copper. Shannon will provide you with a price list via email before the course commences.
Additionally during week 11 & 12 you can choose to keep working in the copper provided or you can purchase silver from Shannon to make your own design(s) with.
You will get to take home all the pieces you have made.
Light refreshments will be provided to keep you going through your lessons.
Course will finish on Wednesday 19th November 2025.
Please wear long hair tied up, do not wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.
If you need glasses to see things up close please bring them with you. Making jewellery is rather fiddly!
